april 2026 progress report

throughout this month and march, i wanted to slowly get out of roblox, primarily when it comes to fanart. recently, i've been feeling a little guilty, since roblox has been the biggest hyperfixation i've had ever in my life, in addition to seeing myself as "too old" for the platform and it going down the shitter. thankfully, archiving, streaming, emulation, and digital storefronts exist.
gaming...
ever since november 2025, playing the binding of isaac: rebirth has been a huge factor in helping me get out of my roblox-centric shell. it offers a lot of replayability in addition to being an achievement farmer (and one of the best at that). ultrakill and minesweeper are also fun. (big shoutout to my friend for getting me into both!!) i was also playing magical drop VI; it's more of a 3/5 game for me, though.
i also had a friend help me emulate the nintendo switch version of scott pilgrim vs. the world: the game (the original one, not the complete edition). very fun game with awesome pixel art (courtesy of the goat paul robertson), but super grindy and extremely brutal. it's worth it, tho.
i've also revisited the void rains upon her heart and picayune dreams.
watching...
still on my venture bros grindset (since march 2026): my favorite characters have to be the monarch, dr. girlfriend (dr. mrs. the monarch in later seasons), phantom limb, and dr. orpheus. i also watched scott pilgrim takes off (2023). i love how they humanized the characters (especially the evil exes), even though this is a separate AU from the comics.
though i should watch more live-action to balance my tastes, such as twin peaks (originated from my mike patton fixation, as it seems that he's a fan of david lynch's works). but i only watched the first few episodes (i think 5-7?) of the first season before having to stop because i hate being assaulted with ads (thanks a lot, pluto tv!) before watching the venture bros. i'm trying to rewatch the series so i can jog my memory, but i was sleeping through the long-ass pilot episode yesterday. second time's the charm, perhaps?
the movies i recently watched were scott pilgrim vs. the world (2010) and speed racer (2008), both equally action-packed and crazy films. speed racer especially reminds me of those 90s eurodance MVs and lazy town, though i need to rewatch both movies (as well as american psycho) someday.
reading...
oh wow! i actually read books, though this is limited to ebooks on the internet archive, such as the entire scott pilgrim colored comic series. gonna have to reread it someday.
in general...
as you can see, i've been on a scott pilgrim binge, and this all started because i'm fully invested in context regarding gideon graves, the main antag. he's been living rent-free in my head thanks to his design (another gender envy candidate). found out he's an irredeemable shithead and i love him for that; i especially love how the anime woobified him and gave him a love interest (julie powers, no less, the token "bitch"; no joke, the comic actually refers to her as such since she's a dick).
